SPREAD THE NEWS - Help Support THE LITTLE CHURCH
To see if it was up to travel, last year The Little Church took a short trip to see the Total Eclipse of the Sun and sent us this postcard. With this successful test trip under her beams, she's been actively planning her escape and has got lots of surprises up her belfry.
She is planning a fanciful vacation. After all, it's been sitting there a tad over 150 years. Isn't it about time for a vacation?
We're all invited to join in the fun. So come back often to see the pictures. We'll also chronicle the restoration and repair efforts to inform everyone of the plans and the progress.
The adventure awaits – Come on Along!
The Little Church began her vacation by attending her first-ever Family Reunion and sent us the postcard above.
She said she met so many beautiful churches—grand and small—and learned all kinds of intriguing things about how churches take vacations for repair. When she left (April 2024), the grandmother of all repair vacations was still underway: that of Notre-Dame de Paris. TLC didn’t meet NDdP but heard fanciful tales of the great church’s adventures and had already petitioned for an audience. “Hey! It’s a long shot,” she said, “but if you don’t ask, the answer is always no.”
One interesting discovery: churches have this marvelous ability to interconnect during reunions and can vicariously journey almost anywhere there's a place of worship—almost instantly. What a great deal. It saves a ton on airfare.
As she continues her journey, she asks us to share her adventures with friends and invite them to tag along and enjoy the ride. You hold the key in your hands, she reminds us. Don’t ever forget that.
The Little Church has touched down in the City of Light, and she's already swept away by the romance and charm of Paris! In her first stop on her European adventure, she couldn't resist sending us a postcard, with the iconic Eiffel Tower standing tall in the background.
Fresh from her inaugural Family Reunion, The Little Church is buzzing with tales of newfound friendships and the unique journeys churches embark on during their repair vacations. While she eagerly awaits a rendezvous with the legendary Notre Dame de Paris, she's reminded that every grand adventure starts with a simple ask.
Isn't it fascinating how churches, like old souls, can bridge distances and share experiences in the blink of an eye? As she admires the Eiffel Tower's graceful silhouette against the Parisian skyline, the Little Church is reminded of the boundless possibilities that lie ahead.

During her Paris adventures, she doses off to sleep…
Beneath the starlit sky in Paris, The Little Church finds herself immersed in a fantasy scene that captures the essence of the city's enchantment. Standing beside a dreamlike sister church adorned in mesmerizing light, she gazes out toward the iconic silhouette of the Eiffel Tower, its majestic presence casting a spell over the night. The city pulses with energy and life.
In her dream, fireworks burst forth in a dazzling display of color that paints the sky with fleeting moments of brilliance.
Though she won't actually be in Paris for Bastille Day, her explosive dream offers a glimpse, and she feels grateful for the opportunity to experience the city's magic. Each explosion offers a testament to the vibrant spirit of Paris, a celebration steeped in history, culture, and joie de vivre.
Though the Notre Dame de Paris graciously responded to her request for an audience, the BIG CHURCH <— that's how The Little Church refers to her) says an audience must wait until after the bustling activities of summer and a time further along in her repairs. Perhaps TLC can plan a return to Paris for this audience toward the end of her vacation.
The fireworks continue as TLC embraces the fleeting beauty of the moment, cherishing the memories made so far and the dreams yet to come. She plans to remain in the city of light and love for a few weeks.
