This is all about TLC - We all need it from time to time... ESPECIALLY NOW! Our goal is to raise $4,000. by October 2, 2020 before committing to execute the grant agreement with MHHAA, and we'll need $8,000. in hand before the end of the year to complete the project.
We're off to a good start. Think about joining us...
ABOUT THE STRUCTURE
In 1992 the non-profit Iuka Heritage, Inc., received an Award of Merit from The Mississippi Historical Society for “the excellent restoration of the Episcopal Church of Our Savior in Iuka.” This Historic Carpenter Gothic Style Structure dating from 1873 has since been placed on the National Register of Historic Places and we have maintained it by renting it for church services, as a wedding chapel and as a Performing Arts venue.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
This project is to fund a Historic Structures Report (HSR) which will give us a thorough analysis of the building, describe the significance and condition of the structure and its components, prioritize recommendations and outline what work will be needed (along with approximate costs) to repair/stabilize any problems. To keep the building viable for the future, this is an initial stage report.
The overall purpose is to set forth a plan that makes The Little Church continue to be a safe, comfortable and useful landmark in our community.
The specific issues that brought us to consider getting this report and its assessment:
An acceptable plan to resolve these issues and approach grant assistance programs that can properly address them will be deemed a success for this Historic Structures Report project.
ABOUT THE GRANT
This grant from the Mississippi Hills Heritage Area Alliance requires a 1:1 match and is a reimbursement grant. The $8,000. estimate to complete the proposed structural analysis, plan and report must be paid before Iuka Heritage, Inc. can receive the $4,000. grant funds.
FULFILLMENT
We hope to hire Belinda Stewart Architects, P.A. to prepare this Historical Structures Report.

Creators and Performers of the Boomer Years.
Lots of Local and Regional Students. Plenty of Shows. Educational Entertainment. FUN!
Look around before we take it down.
The Boomer Years Website was for:
TEACHERS, STUDENTS and SPONSORS
who hope to share their vision of the Future by remembering, and better understanding, the past.
AS TEACHERS we are challenged to offer our students fun and exciting ways to engage in the “World of Learning.”
AS STUDENTS we are challenged to look beyond the complexity of the subject and find those hidden connections that give the material meaning and excitement.
AS SPONSORS we are challenged to remember the future is built from stones that were once seen to be only rubble, and that as students and teachers ourselves, we bear the responsibility of sharing our talents.
We are all TEACHERS. We are all STUDENTS. We are all SPONSORS. Realizing this Truth enriches lives and makes our world more complete.
